the short courses

The short courses are designed to convey a broad survey of biblical teaching on finances, but are not as detailed as the basic or formal course offerings. Useful when time constraints require abbreviated versions, these short courses can be presented as one- or six-hour lectures. The actual classroom time needed for each course will vary from the nominal, depending on the number of questions from the audience, discussions, and translators needed for the audience.

COLLEGE LECTURE
College students, whether at a secular or religious institution, need training in sound financial management concepts as they prepare to enter adult life.
The short courses are slide presentations of abbreviated versions of the 10 core modules comprising the Basic Course and consist of one or more key concepts from each module. These "Short Courses" can be presented in one- to four-hours, depending on the level of detail the instructor chooses to pursue. They might be suitable for a Friday night and/or Saturday morning seminar, an adult Sunday School curriculum of a few weeks in duration, or an evening seminar at a college or seminary. All short courses are in Microsoft PowerPoint format, converted to downloadable pdf files.

Short courses

The short courses are designed to be presented as high-level biblical surveys of the subject. They don't include quizzes or homework, but those learning tools may be added by the instructor. They were created in Microsoft PowerPoint and are downloadable in pdf format. All presentations include presenter notes in narrative form which reflect the understanding and personal experiences of the author. The instructor has the freedom to modify the content by creating his own notes for each presentation. Short course introduction Biblical Financial Principles - a 1-hour scriptural survey - A survey of biblical passages compiled into ten principles. Biblical Financial Principles - a 3-hour scriptural survey - A survey of biblical passages compiled into ten principles plus one or more practical implications of the text for each principle. Building our financial house based on God's Word (6-hour course): A shorter form of the Basic Course presenting the Ten Principles as a metaphor of building a house. Part I-laying the foundation (core biblical principles condensed from Principles 1-3) - 2hrs Part II-building the structure (practical teaching condensed from Principle 4) - 2 hrs Part III-living in it (life applications condensed from Principles 5-10) - 2 hrs Additional modules: The Blessings Fund (2-hour course): A focused call to generous giving. The course includes the concept of the "Blessings Fund", a tool to help the believer practice willing and cheerful generosity. Includes presenter narrative. It is based on a section of teaching found in the Basic Course, Principle 7. Microenterprises (2-hour course). This module is a special application of the Formal Course module VI: Money and Business. It provides a brief overview of general business principles, describes some of the issues facing small, individually-owned businesses, and offers some examples of microenterprises often found in developing countries. It presents the small business concept at a high-level and provides the framework for further investigation by interested entrepreneurs.
